Covid-19 Positive and Our Symptoms

I have finally been tested positive ok Halloween Day this year. We first found the double lines in B's test kit 2 days earlier. He had to be quarantined on his own and missed Papa's company's Family Day held over the weekend. This was the first time such an event was held in the company after over a decade with them. There were game stalls and line tours and lucky draws. B was so upset when he saw the lines and cried in the bathroom knowing that it meant that he won't be able to attend the event.

Not sure where and how he got it. He has been putting fingers in his mouth despite numerous reminders much to my dismay. Earlier that week, J was down with a fever on Deepavali Monday but tested negative. Could it have been a false negative?

B started having a headache on Friday night and probably had a low grade fever. He complied most of the time to be quarantined and wearing a mask if we had to speak face to face. However my symptoms sort of started on Sunday night and by Monday, it was evident that I had caught the dreaded bug. I joined B in 'prison' and he was thrilled to have company although he would have preferred Papa as he is more playful according to B 😄. I had chills and achy joints and felt lethargic and slept most of the day away. B woke up and slept till noon that day too. Paracetamol 650mg almost every 4 hourly made it more bearable. Had craving for soupy meals. By evening, Pa was getting tired. We tried Pandamart for the first time to get some supplies for the older two - milk, bread, cereal. They are on their own the next few days...

Pa managed to send O and J to school. After that, he was so tired and was already experiencing joint pains that he popped a pill and slept till noon. Quite a clear sign and confirmed by the test kit again. This would be his and B's 2nd infection unfortunately. Our prayers is for a speedy recovery with no long term complications as we don't know what are the consequences of this new virus if any.

Since I dosed myself earlier, the meds had started to take effect and I was well enough to make a after school run trip. I still needed meds to feel better but the period lasted longer. Started to get breathless for just climbing up a flight of stairs. Both nights, I slept with a jacket as I was feeling chilly. Had socks on the first night, too. J kept coming in to check on me as I was getting breathless. O came in before bed and said she will pray for me.❤️ Before that, I was really disappointed with these 2 older ones. They went about life as though nothing has happened. Had washed some clothes earlier on top of 2 loads of sheets as B soiled the bed thst morning, and tried to get them to help hang but both were reluctant and kept pushing the responsibility to the other person. Got so pissed that I went to do it on my own even though that caused me some form of lethargy. Took me less than 5 mins and they just couldn't care less. Was really sad that my children whom were once super caring and I would have imagined them bringing a meal on a tray for breakfast to me, turned out to have only their own interest in mind. One gave the excuse that she had lots of work to do and the other was having a whale of a time watching TV without anyone nagging at him. I had to blast my trumpet to make them realise what they are actually doing.

Day 3 - I'm breathless even when I talk awhile longer. Only took 1 dose today towards evening. Good news is, B is negative although it's bad news for him as that means he has to go back to school the next day. It's his D5 and he had been running up and down the length of my room just to clock in 10k steps on my watch. Before I joined him in the room, he had already turned it into a football field. Am glad he recovered so quickly but still worry that it may have a long term effect on him especially since he's such a sporty boy and needs a good pair of lungs for his activities. Pa on the other hand, still has achy bones and felt too tired to work even though he thought he could continue to work from home. Certainly will pray for his organs to be completely restored fast in preparation for his upcoming 21km Penang Bridge International Marathon which he has not been training enough for. From his last Covid experience, it took him a couple of weeks before he regained back his energy fully.

Meanwhile, we will be missing out on my FIL's 80th birthday bash this weekend. They have booked a place to stay together in town but it's best for us not to join them even if we are negative by Friday, sadly. Wanted to get a catamaran and bring him out for a sunset cruise but all will have to pass for now.

D4 (Thursday) - Expelled out thick mucous from the nose this morning and coughing with phlegm now. Shall try some Flumicil 600mg to help quickly get rid of these nasties.

Shall continue to write as the days unfold.
